ere are a few photos from both the September and October 2001 expeditions to Jockeys Ridge State Park, NC.

To watch a 814K QuickTime video of the 1900 glider in flight, click on the photo to the right. If you have a fast modem and want to watch a larger version (3.1M), click HERE. The benevolent movie-makers at David Garrigus Productions  kindly put these together from the footage they shot for their new documentary, Kitty Hawk. If you have trouble viewing the video, go to Apple and download the QuickTime extension for your browser. It's free!

Like Being There

If you couldn't make it down to Kitty Hawk for our 2001 glide-in,  you can still experience the adventure right here, right now.  Michelangelo Flores, the benevolent master of VR, has put together several "virtual realities." (We call them "Michelangelo's worlds" here at WBAC.) These allow you to view the 1901 glider as if you were standing right next to it, looking all around, up and down. You can almost feel the wind in your hair! In the first of Michelangelo's worlds, you can watch us rig the 1901 glider, getting it ready to fly. In the second, we are kiting the glider from the top of a sand dune, and you are down the slope a short distance. To experience the digital realities that Michelangelo has created, you'll need a QuickTime extension for your browser . If you don't have one, download it from the Apple web site. It's free!

Once again, our heartfelt thanks to the staff of Jockey's Ridge State Park, North Carolina and the people of the Outer Banks for their help and support during this adventure. We are looking forward to enjoying your company and hospitality in 2002.
